Amman- The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team is to compete in the Second Middle Eastern Tournament (Emirates Cup). The team will be represented by 18 athletes which makes it the biggest participation in the tournament so far. "We have a new team competing this time. Only Four experienced athletes will compete this time. The new category for white belts has encouraged many beginners to compete, which is very important for Jiu-Jitsu in the region. Many of our stars such as Zaid Abu Soud, Zaid Abu Ragheb, Mohammed Armouti and Omar Salfiti are going to compete in the World Championship in California in August. However, Jordanain Champions such as Mohammed Bilbeisi, Mohammed Mirza, Odai Al Kurdi, Zaid Khurma and Yazan Salhab will compete in Abu Dhabi," confrimed Zaid Mirza. The Jordanian team is well prepared and will fight for the First place again this year.
The tournament organized by 3 time world champion Carlao Santos and assisted by Olavo Abreu and Suyan Queiroz is becoming a mania for competitors in the region. With full support of Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan the tournament is becoming recognized internationaly on a global level. The December edition of the tournament is set to host Brown and Black belt levels for the first time in history.
Board Secretary, Zaid Mirza, confirmed the Joranian Team participation in the World Tournament held in California, USA in August of this year. Other than Zaid, the Jordanian Delegation will consist of 6 other athletes. Future plans also include an International Tournament in Amman in September of this year. The Jiu-Jitsu Federation would also like to introduce its new Royal Guard Jiu-Jitsu Team in upcoming tournaments this year.
