São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates won the Emirates Asian Super Cup Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, held in Abu Dhabi, in the Arab country, last weekend. In the competition, athletes from the Emirates won four gold, three silver and seven bronze medals, according to Arab newspaper Gulf News.
Jordan ranked second, with three gold, four silver and seven bronze medals, and Brazilian ranked third, with three gold, two silver and seven bronze medals, still according to the newspaper. The Cup brought together 145 competitors from 20 different countries.
The competition was held in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC), where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is taught, as well as other combat sports. The Cup was sponsored by sheikh Zayed Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and promoted by the Armed Forces Officers Club and the ADCC. The competition was organised by the Brazilian Carlão Santos, who once held the title of Jiu-Jitsu champion of Brazil, and works with the sport in the Emirates.
