Welcoming the decision to name the Wrestling, Judo, and Jiu-Jitsu Federation
H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei - President of the UAE Wrestling, Judo, and Jiu-Jitsu Federation - welcomed the decision of H.E. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais - Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development and President of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare - amending the name of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation to become the UAE Wrestling, Judo, and Jiu-Jitsu Federation in accordance to the Federation's letter dated 29/1, which specified the inclusion of Jiu-Jitsu from Higher Authorities to take care of the sport that saw the light in Abu Dhabi in 1998 with the support and attention directly from its founder, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Godfather of Emirates Jiu-Jitsu.
The sport's base has expanded ever since at the state level, with the support of His Highness, the attention of the the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi and direct follow-up of Lieutenant-General (R) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi - Club Chairman, and the efforts of world-renowned Brazilian Coach Carlos Santos as the sport continues to boom and interest rises under the the umbrella of the Federation's Council, which unanimously welcomed the inclusion of the sport so it can get more attention and care in preparation to host the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup next May in the United Arab Emirates Capital, Abu Dhabi and reflect the bright side of Jiu-Jitsu in the U.A.E., which has achieved many accomplishments at local, regional, and International levels and requires maintaning the good reputation that have been made during the last period in support of the individual sports, which also gets all the support from the leadership.
The upcoming World Cup will be the real start with the birth of the training centers around the country, especially student centers, which saw the light recently with the support from the Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Education Council under the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with a view to sustain the activity in coordination with all parties to create a broad-based development with opportunities for refinement and friction for all training centers, with the ultimate goal of bolstering the national teams after the elite group of players have benefited from periods of training to learn the basics of the game, which guages the success of the sport so far between school students who represent the starting point to a bright future in Emirates Jiu-Jitsu with its new look.
