Mohammed bin Zayed receives winners of Jiu Jitsu Championship
WAM Abu Dhabi, May 04th, 2010 (WAM)--HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said the UAE under leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to provide all types of support to the sports sector.
He added that such a role help implant noble values, fair competition and respect for others among the sports groups, who highlight the name of UAE at regional and international sports arenas.
This came during Sheikh Mohammed's reception separately of the champions of the Abu Dhabi Schools Jiu Jitsu championship and the UAE national champions who ranked second at the World Cup of Jiu Jitsu Championship for Professionals, which was held in Abu Dhabi in April.
Present were HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saud Al Mualla, Umm Al Qaiwain Crown Prince, HE Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, the Speaker of Federal National Council, The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his pleasure about meeting 35 male students, 36 female students and a number of administrative staff and trainers, adding that they are young promising sports talents in this sports, urging them to continue training to represent the country in the world championships.
He also received the UAE nationals who won the second position of the world championships of Jiu Jitsu for professionals, which was held in Abu Dhabi. He praised the winners for their achievement, urging them to exert more efforts to bag more future championships.
On their part, the team expressed their happiness on meeting Sheikh Mohammed, adding that the achievement was attained due to his support.
It is worth noting that the UAE team won 11 medals, of which four were gold medals, in Jiu Jitsu Championship for professionals, which was held in Abu Dhabi from April 15-17. The team was ranked second.
For his part, HE Dr Moghair Khamis Al Khaili, director general of Abu Dhabi Education Council, commended unlimited continuous support provided by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to students to develop their skills and talents.
