Analizando o Mundial de Jiu Jitsu 2010
O portal GRACIEMAG.com realizou uma interessante análise do Campeonato Mundial. Confira abaixo:
Atletas
No total, são 1989 atletas.
Serão 247 faixa pretas masculinos, sendo eles 22 campeões mundiais.

O peso galo abre a lista com 10 inscritos e o meio-pesado é a categoria mais cheia, com 45 atletas.

Depois de muito tempo, uma categoria da faixa-preta vai ter dois Gracies: Kron e Kayron, no médio.
Aliás, falando em Gracie, eles são seis no total. Além dos dois citados acima, teremos Roger, Kyra, Ronis (faixa-roxa) e Clark (faixa-marrom).

Entre os 247 faixas-pretas, teremos três bicampeões mundiais absolutos: a surpresa Márcio “Pé de Pano” Cruz (2002/2003) e os favoritos Alexandre Ribeiro (2006/2008) e Roger Gracie (2007/2009).

Outra grande surpresa é a presença de Nino “Elvis” Schembri, inscrito no pesado. O carioca que fez sucesso nos mundiais no final da década de 90 e início da década de 2000 está longe da maior competição do Jiu-Jitsu desde 2006.

Entre tantos nomes, temos diversos multicampeões. Celsinho Venícius quer o tetra no leve. Roger luta pelo hepta no peso. Xande vai em busca do hexa. Cobrinha quer o penta. Marcelinho pode ser tetra. Há outros, muitos outros.
No feminino, na categoria marrom/preta, teremos 41 guerreiras.

Países
Para comprovar que o Jiu-Jitsu é um esporte mundial, atletas oriundos de 36 países

Bianca Barreto é uma das 41 atletas da marrom/preta.
(mesmo que não nascidos lá) estão inscritos.

Na pirâmide de babel de Long Beach, teremos atletas de Angola, Argentina, Austrália, Brasil, Canadá, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Croácia, Dinamarca, República Dominicana, Equador, Inglaterra, Finlândia, França, Alemanha, Grécia, Hungria, Irlanda, Itália, Japão, Jordânia, Coréia do Sul, México, Mongólia, Nova Zelândia, Noruega, Peru, Filipinas, Polônia, Cingapura, Suécia, Suíça, Emirados Árabes Unidos, Reino Unido, Estados Unidos e Uruguai.

Os EUA lideram com 1419 atletas, mas contando com muitos brazucas. O Brasil, berço da arte suave, ocupa a segunda posição, com 270 inscritos. O Canadá completa o pódio com 99 lutadores.
Japão, com 49 inscritos, e o Reino Unido, com 31 atletas fecham a lista dos cinco países com maior número de representantes.

Mas também merecem aplausos a delegação de Angola, com nove competidores, e da Mongólia, que terá três representantes. Por outro lado, é de se notar a ausência de atletas de Portugal, a sede do Europeu de Jiu-Jitsu.

The live broadcast is coming right up! We’ll be broadcasting live all day on Saturday and Sunday (June 5th & 6th) from the Pyramid in Long Beach. The event is absolutely free to watch online. Just login (or create) with your Budovideos account.

Budo Jake will be on hand all weekend providing commentary and giving away valuable prize packages. Brush up on your BJJ trivia as he said he’s going to be asking some tough trivia questions!
During the finals on Sunday the duo of Shawn Williams and Caleb will be providing live play by play so you can understand the subtle techniques of the world champs.

The athletes who placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each adult blue male, adult purple male and adult brown male weight division are eligible to compete in the Open Class division.
The athletes who are eligible and wish to compete in this division should report to the admin table after your division is finished and the medals are awarded so that you may register.

PRO JIU-JITSU CUP to hold the Arab trials for the World Pro 2011 in
Bahrain, these Trials will be open to all Arab countries and
nationalities, on behalf of my self and all the members of Alliance
...Bahrain I would like to thank the world pro organizers in there trust in
our work. more information will come soon.
- Bahrain is ideal for this event as it is close to all the Gulf states with easy access, as will as we have a lot
of experience with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu tournaments, as we are the most active country competing in Abu Dhabi (UAE) for the last 5 years.

- we will host this event in the Bahrain sports hall ( Um al Hassam hall ) this hall can accommodate up to 3,000 spectators, this hall can have 4 fighting areas.

- we will sell this event as the Arab world pro cup qualifier held in Bahrain for all Arab countries and nationalities.

this event will be held for ( white and blue) belts and (purple belts).

- the event will be for different weight categories and will be segregated be belts white and blue together and purple belts alone.

- all the semi finalists will be allegeable to fight in the open weight groups.

- the open weights will be as follows (-73kg white and blue) (+73 white and blue) (-73 purple) (+73 purple).

- only the winners of the open weight divisions will get the free ticket and accommodation for the world Pro cup.

Jiu-Jitsu invades Syria Arab Republic
Black belt introduces the Gentle Art in the country


Damascus- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Zaid Mirza gave a three hour seminar in
Damascus the capital of Syria. The Seminar was held last weekend at one of
his blue belt students Mr. Mazhar Al-Dardari. The Seminar had more than
40 students consisting of many Judo and Aikido black belts.

"Mazhar has a vast experience in Martial Arts. He is a Judo and Aikido black
belt with 20 years of experience. Now he has decided to take up BJJ as his
new art. He is doing a great work expanding the sport in Syria. He drives
4 hours every weekend along with his students where they come and trains
at our academy in Jordan," says the proud Zaid Mirza.

Syria, is to have two new gyms opening this year under the umbrella of Team
Mirza. New Brazilian black belts are to arrive in the Syrian capital to assist
Mr. Dardari in his hard work spreading the art. New affiliations for Team Mirza are also opening
in Lebanon, Egypt, and other neighboring countries. For more information regarding
