Medeiros celebrates 10 years in the USA and great times

GMA member based in San Diego is all happiness with his academy
After ten years putting together his team in East Los Angeles and San Diego, GMA member Rodrigo Medeiros is having a great time. His team was consecrated two-time national champion of Jiu-Jitsu, at the end of September, and the California academy is a whirlwind of activity, especially with Álvaro Romano teaching classes twice a week and helping the athletes with their physical fitness.
The teams focus is already the Jiu-Jitsu Panamerican, in 2007. “Today, after ten years here, we have more down time, to do things like surf, yoga and swim. But I am at the gym everyday for around six hours, teaching classes in the morning and afternoon", says Rodrigo, who is also excited about his site, www.rodrigomedeirosbjj.com.
“It was great to win the National championship again this year and know that my team is one of the main contenders in the USA. We dedicate this conquest to my late grandmaster Carlson Gracie. We got three times the points the second place team did. The level is very good and the opponents are tough. But this year the athletes from Megaton, under Gustavo Dantas and Gracie Barra, put up a great fight against my team”, states the two-time champion teacher, who laughs when fans still confuse him with Rodrigo "Comprido" Medeiros.
“In Brazil and here in the USA those in the realm of Jiu-Jitsu don’t confuse us so much, but in Europe they do, and it happens all the time. I remember when I was a brown-belt and taught at Nova Geração, and Comprido, still a blue-belt, came to introduce himself as having the same name, asking politely if I saw any problem in the two of us having the same name. But Comprido is a great champion, great character and a good friend, so I have fun telling this fact!”, Medeiros finishes. The one from San Diego...
