EMIRATES BJJ TEAM MEMBER HEADED FORINTERNATIONAL MASTER & SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Head Coach for the Emirates BJJ Team, Carlão Santos, and Coaches Olavo Abreu & Suyan Queiroz announce Emirates BJJ Team member, Bruce Tafoya, will be competing in the International Master & Senior Jiu Jitsu Championships to be held on July 7th & 8th at the Tijuca Tenis Clube gymnasium, in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Bruce will be competing in the Middle Weight and Open Weight categories as a Brown Belt.
Bruce has been performing referee duties for the Emirates Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Cup & Abu Dhabi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Cup which is held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Also, Bruce assists Carlão, Olavo, & Suyan in training and coaching the Emirates BJJ Team – Dubai team members. He is currently training with his coaches and teammates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in preparation for the upcoming tournament.
The majority of his past BJJ training has come under Cleber Luciano (Cleber Jiu Jitsu) in Huntington Beach, California, USA, as well as Tim Cartmell (Shen Wu Academy of Martial Arts) in Garden Grove, California, USA. Bruce received his brown belt in November 2006 after winning the Master & Senior Jiu Jitsu Championships Middle Weight division and placing third in the Open Weight division as a Purple Belt in August 2006.
Jiu-Jitsu Camping
· Place: Búzios.
· Date: from June, 30th to July 06th (one week until Jiu-Jitsu Master World Championship).
· The course will have two daily practices.
· Professors: Alexandre Paiva (Gigi), Alexandre Puga, Charles Alexandre, Marcos Meireles and some other invited professors.
The course will begin on June, 30th with two daily practices where it will be shown some techniques of wrestling (without gi), judo (take downs) and jiu-jitsu (ground fight). There also will be specific training focus in the preparation for the Master World Championship competition. In additional it will be a mini-course about breathing, movement, concentration and relaxing techniques with Professor Orlando Cani. The specific date of this activity will be confirmed near the event.
It also will be an optional outdoor schedule with Professor Daniela Figueiredo Genovesi regarding cycling and trekking.
The jiu-jitsu camping cost will be US$ 150.00 which includes transportation from the airport-Búzios-Rio de Janeiro, meals, accommodation and Professor Orlando Cani mini-course.
The outdoor training with Professor Daniela is not included in the package and will be charged separately.
