Kid Peligro Jiu-Jitsu News . . . 2008 Pan Brown Belt Absolute and Black Belt Absolute Quick Report
Submitted by:Kid Peligro
The second day of the 2008 Pan went off big time. In the Brown Belt Absolute a flawless performance by Kron Gracie proved that he is the best in the weight no question! Kron submitted all 5 of his opponents including one fo the World's top Brown Belts, Chris Moriarty, in the finals to take the title. Kron's game was more fluid and aggressive than ever and his opponent's could not keep up with his quickness of thinking and reacting. Moriarty's instructor, the famed Romero "Jacare" put it best: "Kron's metal speed is at another level, he is much faster than the rest and they just can't keep up with him. I am happy for him and for my fighter as well."
In the Black Belt Absolute, the finals are set, it will be Andre Galvao v Roberto Tozzi. Galvao submitted Luis "Big Mac" Theodoro with a choke to reach the finals (no easy feat). Tozzi used his traditional powerful game to overcome his opponents and reach teh other half of the final

Abu Dhabi International Cup 2008 on May
Carlao Santos is the head coach of the Emirates BJJ Team and GMA member in the UAE. He is putting together the event that has all the chances to be the most attractive prizes like for athletes in 2008. The Abu Dhabi International Cup has the patronage of Sheikh Zayed Bin Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Jiu-Jitsu ambassador in that country.
The AD Cup is scheduled May 9th-10th at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) and has a total value of prizes reaching US$ 33,000. The open class alone will give away US$ 2,000 prizes. Competitions will be divided in two skill levels (white + blue belts and purple+brown belts) and 15 weight divisions. Carlao said why events in the UAE are always so attractive: “Here Jiu-Jitsu is seen in a different way from Brazil. Here the entire royal family practices it.”
Registrations cost US$ 20 and can be done on line at the following websites: adcup.blogspot.com, emiratesone.blogspot.com.

UAE TO BRASIL:
Under the patronage of
SHEIKH ZAYED BIN MOHAMAD BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN,
the Emirates Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team and the Head Coach Carlos Santos are once again making history in the fight world. They are sending 6 Emirates Team local members and 1 coach to do camping in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu world capital. In these 2 months they will be training in the Brazilian Top Team Club, one of the 5 bigger fight clubs in the world, and competing in some Brazilian local tournaments.
Carlos says: I believe in these 2 months of “Jiu-Jitsu immersion” in Brazil they will learn the same as they would in a whole year here in the UAE. They will have a full time contact with Jiu-Jitsu and as well they will be training with lots of different coaches and players, learning different stiles and improving their techniques.
I hope that this camping will became more common after this first experience and we can send more players to do the same in a near future.
I also owe a big thanks to H.H. SHEIKH MOHAMAD BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN, H.H. SHEIKH TAHNOUN BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN and LT. GENERAL MOHAMAD HILAL AL KAABI for all the support given to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in UAE.
Fighters going to Brazil: Ali Al Mansoori, Mohamed Al Menhali, Majid Al Naqbi, Hammad Al Dhuhouri, Bader Al Senani, Abdulla Al Shamisi, and the coach Carlos Santos.
