Jiu-Jitsu C'ship from Friday

THE third Emirates Cup Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be held at the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation auditorium in Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday, it was announced here.
No less than 150 entries are expected for the competition and the preliminary rounds will be held on Friday starting at 2 pm with the knockout stage on Saturday also commencing at 2 pm.
"The Emirates Cup Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championship will be held on Dec.15-16 and we are expecting a big field of quality competitors at the championship," said Carlos Santos, event manager.
"This year the response has been overwhelming and as many as 150 entries from different parts of the world are expected in the 3rd edition of the championship in the weekend," said Santos, a three-time world champion.
He added that apart from nationals and expatriates in the UAE, competitors from the Middle Eastern countries, Europe, North America and South America have also entered the fray.
Santos also expressed his gratitude to Armed Forces Officers Club for their support under the directives of Major General Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, deputy chief-of-staff and president of the UAE Athletic Federation.
