European Championship taking shape
List of athletes growing every day
Set for the 26th and 27th of January, in the Casal Vistoso Municipal Sports Complex, in Lisbon, Portugal, the 2008 European Jiu-Jitsu Championship is solidifying its position as the main gi tournament on the Old Continent. With the possibility of online sign-up, the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), in partnership with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation (CBJJ), provides a list of competitors signed up that is updated daily (click here and check it out).
The list is expected to grow even more, as the registration deadline of January 21 is quickly approaching.
Those wishing to sign up can do so by accessing the CBJJ site (click here). There will be no qualifying process for the competition; athletes need only provide the documents required by the organization.
The IFJJF also set the date for the 2008 No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu World Championship. Unlike what happened in 2007, this time the event will not take place at the end of the year, but in August, on the 9th and 10th, in the California State University Dominguez Hills gymnasium.
