If BJJ fans are still getting surprise to watch athletes of 60 years old with many gas fighting at the International of Master and Senior mat, who did got to the Tijuca Tennis Club in days 26 and 27 of August got even more surprised! Proving that size and weight doesn't means anything. The athlete of only 68kg and 1,60m Gabriel Wilcox got the gold medal in the pena category and got really well under the favorites of the absolute title, winning under stars like Jorge Patino Macaco, with no points fight. In the senior 1 absolute, the surprise was the victory of the civil policeman black belt Paulo Peposo, who defeated the athlete of Alliance Fábio Gurgel.
Athlete of Carlson Gracie Team, Gabriel Wilcox has been seeking for a gold medal for some years in the Championships of the BJJ Brazilian Confederation (CBJJ). After a participation of the XI World JJ, Wilcox completed 30 years and also tried under the old athletes of the sport. And did surprise us! Wilcox defeated Kalil Scudeler in the weight category, by 2x0 and in the absolute he did four fights and one of them was the polemic semifinal with Jorge Patino Macaco.
