Mohammed Bin Zayed attends Jiu Jitsu open championship

Abu Dhabi, Apr 26th, 2010 (WAM) -- HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces asserted the keenness on supporting various sports activities as it stems primarily from our interest in the health of our children and our attachment to our heritage.

Sports also play an important role in instilling noble values, love of perseverance, fair competition, respect for others and team work in harmony, he added.

He made these remarks while attending Abu Dhabi schools open Championship in Jiu Jitsu, which was held at the internal stadium of the UAE Judo and Jiu Jitsu Federation in Abu Dhabi this morning. Chairman of the Presidential Aviation HH Sheikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan was present.

Commending on the introduction of Jiu Jitsu at schools as part of the physical training, Sheikh Mohammed said that this represents a major strategic pillars of our approach for the advancement of the sports in the UAE enabling the young generation to compete regionally and internationally.
He noted that Jiu Jitsu training at the schools will build a solid foundation for the growth of the sport in the UAE and to identify gifted children who will make their participation in regional and international tournaments.
