Sign-ups for the International Jiu-Jitsu Masters and Seniors’ Championship are open from today to Friday (18). The competition will be held at the gymnasium of Tijuca tennis club on August 26 and 27. Always featuring great Jiu-Jitsu stars, this year’s event should host the presence of Fabio Gurgel, holder of the open-class and heavyweight titles of the master black-belt, as well as other renowned professors like Alexandre “Gigi” Paiva, America’s Lloyd Irvin, Omar Salum, Eduardo Galvao, Pedro Duarte, Paulo “Peposo” Cury, Fernando Godoi and Welton Ribeiro, teacher to undefeated MMA athlete Thales Leites.

“The main goal in hosting a special competition for masters and seniors only is to retrieve the image of the sport, its history and presenting Jiu-Jitsu, once and for all, as a sport that, when well taught, is of great value in education, forming men of great character and moral,” says the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation in its website, summoning athletes to sign up.
