1-Abu Dhabi and a very beautiful city and also exotic for us Brazilians, speaks a little for the reader as this trip was to Abu Dhabi.
A: I already went to Abu Dhabi three times, once for fighting the Asian Super Cup and two to fight the Abu Dhabi Pro and plan to go many other times (laughter). A city of surprise anyone, because the architecture of the buildings, a mosque and huge hotels, those are just incredible, we were in Oficers Club, which is huge, has everything and a little more, lap pool, Jacuzzi, various saunas, a huge gym, bowling, has so much that you don’t fill like leaving at all (laughter), and food is very good. Too bad that we didn’t stayed in Abu Dhabi more days before the competition and went away one day after the event, had no time to make a tourism city and learn more.
2-You now have two belts from Abu Dhabi Pro how is the planning and preparation to defend them?
A: I have to continue the work, I'm doing and a little more, I mean, train hard, believing in my training and I know that I have to work for the victories to come, I sweat a lot in the gym, that is the way to the achievements. The Abu Dhabi Pro is a different tournament of the events of the confederations, especially by the six minutes time of the fight, then we have to be adapted to the rule, but about that I'm fine with support of Thiago Mendes at the fitness and our professor Ramon Lemos at the mat.
3-The ATOS team came strong on Abu Dhabi Pro what was the importance of team and coach in this achievement.
A: Our team came strong in Abu Dhabi Pro trials occurring in Gramado-RS, and Rio de Janeiro, the World Pro is the main event in the ATOS team caledar , our team is very close together, for me it makes a big diference, always one helping the other giving incentive in the workouts, it is a workout with a lot of focus but still fun and relaxed. The objective of ATOS is not to create a star, but a constellation, when one of our athletes go in for a fight it is like everyone of us are fighting. Clearly, a team without leadership does not go anywhere, and Ramon Lemos, Thiago Mendes are responsible for some of the great achievements, could be with incentive, corrections at the mat or riding the training schedule to run.
4-What was your toughest fight in Abu Dhabi Pro?
A: I made several tough fights, but the struggle of the final of my weight divisio with Braulio Estima was the hardest, was decided in the last 10 seconds before it I was losing, it was very exciting from beginning to end, we both had a chance to decide the fight. Already the fight also with the absolute with Braulio Estima I think I was superior from start to finish even so, it was a tough fight as well.
5-How was the night which preceded the finals?
A: I was in the same room with Guilherme and Rafael Mendes, we did not get over the jet leg, we were going to sleep almost at sun rise and woke up only for lunch hehehe, we were talking all night setting up what would be the strategy for fighting with all that were written in our category, even with that opponent that we would’t fight hahaha.
6-At the finals of the weight, you insisted on playing under. It was part of the strategy, not to enter the Braulio’s guard?
A: Everyone knows the power Broulio’s guard has and I have already entered with the strategy of pull guard first, and it worked both in weight and in absolute. In the absolute we pulled gusrd together to my mind, unfortunately the refery thought he pulled first, and when he stud up, in my vew should be advantage, he got two points, witch made me run after the result.
7-What is the fight that you believe was most interesting to the viewer, on that event?
He had several fights, the finals were all very busy, and if I’m not mistakeing no fight finished in a drow for the refery to decide the outcome, but the fight was more interesting to the public was the Big Mac with Rafael Medes, first by the difference in weight and another by Rafael have won the fight by doing justice to the meaning of the word jiu-jitsu, gentle art.
8 -= We have a new feature in the magazine called a memorable fight, this edition will focus on the fight between and Braulio Estima Marcelo Garcia in the last year’s Abu Dhabi Pro, it was a fight that has yielded many comments on the web. What would be a memorable fight for you and why?
A: The 2003 World Cup final in the absolute black belt from Roger Gracie and Jacare, this fight was excitement from start to finish the fight was going on, with the attack from both sides than Jacare takes down(two points) REVISADOand was winning the fight, Roger was doing guard and 1 minute to finish fighting fit a very tight armbar the Jacare was at arm's length and still escaped his arm in delocou cotuvelo when todods thought he would give up the fight and give the victory to RogerHe puts his hand inside the track and continue the rest of the fight with one arm and took the championship. Just thinking about this fight was a lot of guts I cringe.
9-What is your opinion about the prospect of the Jiu-jitsu to become Olympic sport?
A: I believe jiu jitsu to become Olympic sport, but it will be a long walk still do not think that is a reality and must happen in the future, compared to other martial arts we are very young, but we are growing very fast and winning a lot of people, I believe this is the primary factor to enter the Olympics, the more people know the sport, and usually those who know can not be without training, is more likely to be an olympic sport.
10-In your view what is the place of the Abu Dhabi World Pro in the calendar of international Jiu-Jitsu?
A: The event already has been the principal of several professional wrestlers and the organization and how to deal with athletes, I believe should be the primary goal of all athletes in jiu jitsu. This is the kind of event that the world of jiu jitsu was in need for athletes to really live and professionalism of the sport.
11-What is the Influence of Abu Dhabi in the context of combat sport in the world today?
A: Abu Dhabi is an example, for it can encourage the taking jiu jitsu training the best athletes to the limit in pursuit of the prize and also use the jujitsu school in the martial art as it is, discipline, improving self esteem .... ... Things that go far beyond the competitions and will serve to help shape a character.
