Six in fray for open weight title

EMIRATIS Eid Rehan, Khalil Ibrahim, Hasssan Moosa and Amin Toati as well as Daniel Stewart from Bahrain and Tunisian Abdualsalam Alaros qualified for the open weight category of the second Abu Dhabi International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Cup which kicked off on Friday at the Armed Forces Club (Afoc) in Abu Dhabi.

The two-day championship is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Zayed Bin Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the total prize money on offer is $20,000.

Sheikh Zayed Bin Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the competition. Others who were present at the opening ceremony were Major General Mohamed Hilal Al Kaabi, chief of staff and president of the UAE Athletic Federation, Mohammed Bin Thaloob, president of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation and other invitees.

The championship sponsored and hosted by Afoc was scheduled to conclude on Saturday evening.

The competition consists of nine different weight categories including two for the beginners.

The following is the list of competitors who have qualified for the semi-finals.
