2007 Worlds A Few More Names Begin to Surface

As the last hours to register pass and the deadline nears, a few more "names" started to surface. Latest check on the athletes list revealed the addition of Andre Galvao, Robert Drysdale, Flavio "Cachorrinho" & Romulo Barral. Although there is no sign yet of Xande Ribeiro or Roger Gracie, they are virtually confirmed as "Xande" has been on hypespace training regimer and Roger has been spotted in So. California area, Orange County, and I garantee he didn't come here to go to Disneyland!

The tournament begins Thursday, August 23rd at the Cal State Long Beach Pyramid. For the latest info go to www.ibjjf.org

U.S. Open 12 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

October 20 & 21, 2007

Dear Competitor,

It's that time of year again for "America's Favorite Tournament" to shift into high gear, but first we'd like to thank everyone that participated in the U.S. Open XI last year and helped make it such a huge success.

Over the years the U.S. Open has become known as the event to attend if you want a high-quality, fair, organized, and friendly competition environment. The quality of the U.S. Open could not be sustained without the yearly participation of each and everyone of you. We hope to see all of you, repeat attendees and first-time competitors, this year for another high-level, enjoyable event.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa

Each year the U.S. Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament donates 25% of ticket sales proceeds to a charity organizaiton. This year we will be supporting the Second Harvest Food Bank. By encouraging your friends and family to come to the event and pay the admission price to watch you compete, you will be helping fund this very worthy organization. For more information on what they do please visit their website.

Brown & Black Belt Team Challenge 3

Team Saulo Won it '05; Team Gracie Barra in '06; Which Team Will Take it in '07?

Claudio Franca pioneered the team tournament in Rio in 1990, and the U.S. Open debuted the Team Challenge in 2005 for the first time, to our knowledge, here in the States. Each participating team will enter 3 black or brown belts in one open weight male black/brown division.
The winning team--the team that wins the most fights--will take home $3,000. In the event that there are more than two teams, the second place team will receive $500. Team registration will be $100. Teams may be created in any way, as long as all members are legitimate black or brown belts.
